Our History
The West Michigan Alliance of Immersion Educators (WMAIE) started as a grassroots movement to connect immersion educators in West Michigan with others in the field, and to provide professional development to teachers and administrators specific to Immersion education.
As the Immersion school community grew, we saw the need to give WMAIE more structure, and to seek Immersion Education experts to address our educators. We were thrilled when Aquinas College also offered to unite with us in this endeavor! May 20, 2014 WMAIE members were invited to a meeting to elect a board of directors. At that meeting 6 members were elected to lead WMAIE into the next phase of our develoment. We decided to apply for non-profit status, and are currently in the process of defining our role and vision for the organization.
